I nearly removed a cat recently - was unpopular with the wife I can tell you !
Oh, THAT kind of cat....
In a Oct 2002 D2 does removing the Cat converter give your exhaust better flow while changing centre muffler?
Is there any sensors that measure temp etc that would be affected if the cat is removed??

Yes the Catalyst converter...does it affect mixtures sensors??? or just the environment?
Lack of cat causes emissions to be dirtier, but hey, the D1 (and other commercials/4WD's) managed without cats in Australia until '99 even though passenger cars had to have them in '86. Go figure, 4WD's don't pollute?
If you must lose a cat, punch its guts out, slip a smooth piece of pipe thru it. Then it looks kosher. Just don't expect to pass an emissions check.
Much more legal lfit some hi-flow cats, the V8 boys demand them.
By law,, you cannot remove them,,,
big fine for the company,,
there is an O2 sensor at the front of the passenger side one,,
as for the centre muffler,,
just replace with a piece of pipe,,

I've heard on the grapevine, legislation is pasted in WA to allow the "police" to use exhaust gas sniffers to check vehicle gas emissions. If yours doesn't pass your off the road.![]()
Just fit a hi-flow cat, not too familiar with the cats as mine is an early model and did not come with one. One thing I do know, is that you can't hear the turbo whistle in the exhaust at idle if the car has a cat.

I went the 2.5 without the cat and a high flow muffler... I had the cat made up to drop back in with flanges if i need to pit pass the car... It has freed up the car heaps and i now have a turbo whistle and more low down power... the car is not that much louder just seems to be a deeper burble and bark when you put the foot down....![]()
