    Rear Electric Windows

    Hay

I just got my new Landy lastnight and was testing everything out, unfortunately I found that the electric windows in the rear arnt working. I have tried to put the window lock on and then off see if that works. I turned the child lock for the door on and off just in case it connected in anywy. But nothing.

Does anyone know about fuses that might go or people take a fuse out so that kids carnt use them??? Or if there is another thing that can stop the windows from working!?!?

    Thanks in advance

    Cheers.

I don't suppose you've popped the switch out and checked it's actually working? SD1 switches used to fill up with sand! Multi meter time.

Find someone with, or buy, a Nanocom. Use it to see if the windows actually work. If they do, the motors and wiring are OK, and your switches/wiring are suspect.

Check the fuse box under the steering column.

    Have fun, and welcome aboard!

Thanks guys. Haven't actually looked at the switch from behind but I am suspecting that it is not connected or not clean as there is no light on at night(if there is one?). Do you guys happen to know a link to another thread on how to take that part of the console apart?

    Cheers and thanks again.

Go to The Good Oil section and type window switches into the search tool....(top right)... .fair bit of info there that may help.

Try pulling off rear door trim and checking connections at the window motor and button. I would think that if something had gone wrong at centre console then the buttons on the doors should still work. I had one rear window fail the other day, all fuses checked ok, so I removed trim and had a bit of a play with connections and then hey presto it worked. Can't say what was at fault because I was expecting the motor to be defective, but it was probably a loose connection, anyway it works now and it didn't cost me anything.
    Cheers Matt
