    Disc Brake

The mechanic told me that I need to change the rear disc brake and brake pads. I read alot that we have to use genuine brake pad to avoid 3 amigos problem (well I have them shown every morning only) and I was wondering whether I need to use genuine disc brake as I havent find here being discuss.

Does slotted disc brake make alot of different in braking?

I have always used genuine pads so can't really comment on the 3 amigos / brake pad brand relationships but in the ~11 years I have owned my D2 I have only seen the 3 amigos once and then only for ~30 seconds.

So maybe there is something to be said for genuine pads.

you dont have to but its one of those items that OEM is cheaper than some of the aftermarket stuff.

but its been a long time since I priced them up.

I've used OE, EBC slot/dimpled and DBA dimple rotors, all with no amigo problems.

I've also used OE, EBC, Bendix and Lucas TRW pads with no amigo problems.
    Cheers
