    Disco Rotors & Pads

    Hi all,
I am needing to replace the front rotors and pads on my 2001 TD5 and just wondering if someone can suggest the best place to buy these in Melbourne.(south east if possible)
I have had some re-occurring issues with squeeling and the 3 amigos visiting from time to time. (used the nanocon a couple of times) I have been advised by a number of persons that it is best to go with original/genuine parts when replacing. ... may be wrong!
Heading off on a 2 month trip around the centre soon so I don't want to take any shortcuts with inferior quality replacements.
    tia ... Dave

You're making me go all red!

I would have got a quote from the dealers parts distributor and compared that to KArcraft with shipping
    Karcraft Australia

But to be honest, I find the best ones to be Dba rotors but they are more expensive.

Re 3 amigos, its brake squeel and clunking that does it. I've never had it with OE, EBC or Bendix pads. Lucas TRW pads do squeel but they never triggered the 3 amigos for me. Likewise no probs with OE, EBC or Dba rotors. The only thing that I have had trigger it is when my springs used to dislocate with a bang.
    Cheers

    thanks slunnie (and pedro).
I have checked with a couple of suppliers this morning (saturday) and I think I might go for the dba '4x4 survival' rotors and bendix 4x4 pads. Sounds like this should do the job. Big variation in pricing though .... rotors from $330 per axle to over $400 for the same product at different stores. I don't know how they can sleep at night !!

Stockists VIC Allied Brake and Clutch Gordan street Cranbourne.
Got my discs and pads here last year, eliminated three amigos and no squealing. Good price too, way cheaper than Autobarn and Supercheap.

Thats weird, because I replaced the Bendix with TRW and RDA discs and got rid off my squeal and three amigos.

I think that the biggest contributor to brake squeel is actually the backing on the pad rather than the friction material in these cases. If the pad is properly backed then it will absorb the vibration rather than letting it ring.
