Likely to be one or both railko bushes in the shifter.
There is one on the large spherical pivot at the top and one on the small end of the shifter which fits into the selector levers. I relaced both on mine.
Removal of the top cover will access both easily. Be careful not to drop things into the box. Make sure you get all the btroken pieces out.

Well....fiddly is the best answer. Remove the console, drill out the rivets holding the rubber gaiter, remove the gaiter and the shifter housing is now exposed.
4 bolts removes the shifter and top plate, which will have the remains of the bushes. The new ones just push/ clip on. They are plastic so use some care.
You will need either a new housing gasket or gasket material or sealant, your choice, to reseal the housing. You will also need some new pop rivets to refit the gaiter.
I would allow about 2 hours with the right tools.
cheers

Strangy is spot on with the railko bush, hard to diagnose at first, but when you take it all apart it soon makes sense. Mine was absolutly destroyed and fell into the gearbox, lucky its only plastic.
To insert the new bush, you need to undo an allen key bolt on the selectory fork. As strangy said, be very carefull not to drop this into the box, and make sure you use a good allen key bit on a 1/4 ratchet or equivalent as this bolt has thread locker on it and hence is quite tight. Take your time with it, and it should be all sweet.

Agreed, I didn't do that when I put it back together and it was centered over 1st and 2nd, which makes it a pain to drive. So eeeverything had to come back off again.
