G'day Guys,

The Disco was sold in Japan as a Honda ....- this was in the days where Austin Rover had a partnership with Honda on development.

There were a few cars around - Rover 416 was a Honda Accord!!!

Maybe this bloke has an Jap Import?

Found it:

Honda Crossroad

Interestingly, Honda did try to cover the SUV segment by buying the Discovery from Land Rover and re-badging it as a Honda 'Crossroad' solely for the Japanese market. In the US, where SUV demand was rising, the company also struck a deal with Isuzu to take one of its models and sell it as a Honda Passport. In return, Honda gave Isuzu the Domani which was sold as an Isuzu Gemini in Japan, as well as the Odyssey which was available as an Isuzu Oasis in the US.

You can even see the Honda badge on the steering wheel.

Ewwww, horrible. I notice that the honda badges are on a black oval shaped badge though

I never thought that a car could look ugly because of the badge that it wears, but that proves that it can.

or maybe a Kalahari, the link is going back to 2001 and I hadn't heard anything else about them but could be?...

2002 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SERIES II KALAHARI
Kalahari is the name chosen for an all-new, specialty line of heavy-duty, off-road Land Rover vehicles.* Beginning with the 2002 Discovery Series II Kalahari, which makes its world debut at the New York auto show, the Kalahari series will eventually grow to include versions of all Land Rover models.

Interesting concept if it had gotten off the ground. From memory it was an out of Land Rover group doing it, somewhat like overfinch, but based in melbourne I think.

However from what I have been told about this mystery discovery, it is most likely this Honda Crossroad that the vehicle that he has.

than that's just boring!!! I was thinking this Kalahari would have been a very nice vehicle as looking at the prices for upgrading suspension, airlockers, bodylift etc to a LR is a pricey exercise just for a serious offroad vehicle... but then again, I bet that wouldn't miss you on the price regardless
