    g'day Roger,

I love Dora. I am a complete LR virgin, but looking around to lose my virginity with a IIA, especially if equipped with a Dormobile setup like Dora's.
How are things going with Dora? Have you and the fam been out in the great Tassie wilderness with her yet?
    cheers,
    Gazz

    Thanks Gazz

as it happens, I am in process of setting up for a camping trip this weekend.

The kids and I get out in her most weekends, and have done one overnight before.

Wife hasn't been keen so far, so trying to make sure all goes smoothly.

Have cleaned her up a bit more since the last pics, so will post some of our trip when we get back.

Good luck with your search - there were at least 3 Dormobiles advertised and sold in Aust last year, so keep watching ebay, gumtree etc - you never know.

    All the best

Thanks Roger! Now, how do I do that 'thank you for this useful post' thing?

I think I've narrowed my ideal Land Rover down to a Dormobile or Carawagon. Would be great to take the kids away with minimal setup time (the wife isn't that interested in camping).

Until then I'll probably keep acquiring an assortment of orphan Land Rovers........ at least they might come in handy to trade for the Dormobile/Carawagon if one crops up.

    Not very.

Roof window seals a bit perished and previous owner had fitted a home made 'tropical roof' over the fibreglass to stop it getting to hot where he lived in outback SA. I've removed it, and covered the resulting 30-odd bolt holes with tape til I get around to taking it off and fixing it up properly.

Forecast for the weekend is fine (so far).

Your wife sounds like mine. When I brought Dora home, I sold two parts cars and a chassis that I had finished stripping bits off for my series 1 rebuild. So, technically, we actually reduced the number of landies in our yard. Win-win!

    Hi Roger,
Glad to hear you are using "Dora" as intended We've done a couple of camping trips recently and got washed out on the last one All good fun though. Ours leaks through the doors and windows as all the rubbers have melted, although the roof is fine.

Jim at Dormobile sells all the bits you might need for the roof as you probably know

I'm about to take mine off the road now and start the 300 tdi upgrade.

    "Happy camping"

I think I've seen a list of your vehicles in your signature on the LROCV forum ? I'm up to 6 Land Rovers at the moment (plus motorbikes/trailers etc.) and could be getting an S2a parts car soon.
Wrinklearthur removed 2 chassis' from my driveway a few months ago which gave me a few 'points' back with the wife but if I get the S2a parts car it will be minus several million points again.

I only have my Defender & Series 1 registered at present, the Isuzu C240 powered S3 should be back on the road this year then it's on to the Ex Military LR's.

My kids love Dora but we will have to stick to the tent for the time being.
