It worked great.
Looks like it is washing over the bonnet too, great photo.
Hope this works? Photo taken in Arhnem Land in 1973 at the South Allligator Crossing. Only a couple of vehicles got through that day. Dad's Landrover with the original Six engine. If this works will post photo of one that did not make it!!
Cheers Gaz.

There are two types of people in this world, good and bad. The good sleep better, but the bad seem to enjoy the waking hours
I finally can post Photo's!!! As you can see the Toyota above went for a swim. I can't remember if we towed him through in the end or not??

Hi Bigbugga,
Yeah we got a wet windscreen and wet feet but went through no worries. Dad's still got the old girl but she needs to be restored(badly).A nissan G60 ute got through with about 8 blokes in the back for ballast.
Cheers,Gaz
Nice pics Gaz, I love the old Doormobiles. Dad nearly bought one last year, but it only had the seats and the roof left. Apparently it had a couple of bullet holes in it from afghanistan somewhere. Also, there is supposedly less than 6 doormobiles in Aus, don't know if it is true, but it is motivation to keep it if it is true.
Something of interest for your dad, apparently things like the cupboards and camping gear is the same as in the combi campers.

Are these Doormobiles the ones with the hinged roof that opens up ? or am I thinking of something else. If so can someone point me in the direction of the truth please.

They sure are vlad, if you do a search on google for doormobile you should get some info and pics.
Carwagon also made some camper conversions, but they used a plywood roof with a different shape when opened.

Hi lads,
Phoenix, Dad still has all the gear for the Dormobile except the original engine. He put in a perkins 4.1 litre diesel in 1980 and a Marks 5 speed about 4 years ago. The old girl has done about 750000 K's so needs some major work. Brakes , suspension and bodywork are buggered. Full restoration needed.
Vlad, The dormobiles had a fibreglass roof that hinged up. At roof height you had two canvas bunks that folded down. The front and rear seat folded down two make a continuios double bed. In the back there was a cupboard on the passenger side that had a two or three burner gas stove and a kitchen sink next to that.
Our family was in Darwin for cyclone Tracy and the Landrover was all we had left after our house was blown away. I learnt to drive in it and hence the fascination with landrovers. Will try and post a photo showing the roof up if i can find one.
Cheers,Gaz
Thanks Gaz.
I guess if you have a car left after your house has been blown away - then a dormobile is about the best thing you could have had.
