Good luck with your quest. Keep us posted with any developments.
Someone has contacted me because he is searching for a Dormobile his Uncle drove overland in the late 60's early 70's.
It was pale green, registered in the UK as 2786 PH then driven through Europe, the Middle East, down through India then arrived in WA and was driven to Tasmania.
The gentleman who contacted me thought my Dormobile may have been the one he is looking for (he's to the left of the campfire in the picture below).
He has the complete itinerary including details of food etc. purchased along the way. His aim is to find it, buy it and then drive it back to the UK !!
He remembers that there was some damage to the bonnet and firewall (near the vent) where a truck hit it in Yugoslavia, apart from that he can't remember anything that would confirm it's 'the' Dormobile.
I'm trying to get a chassis number from the UK registration but not sure if this is possible, he will be advertising in a number of Tasmanian newspapers next week because it stayed with the family in Tassie and was then sold.
I've attached a newspaper article from when his Uncle arrived in Tasmania and another photo, the photo shows damage to the passenger side wing.
The headlamp rims in the photos seem to have a chrome surround like a Series I but mine has a raised rib in the frontpanel around the headlights so maybe it's earlier than mine.
The registration places it in Guildford Surrey and because of the format it's probably before 1965 apart from that we are struggling........
If you know of anyone with a pale green Dormobile Series II or IIa could you please let me know and I'll pass the details.
Many thanks,
Colin

What a great story. I hope it can be found.
This one is still in Perth, although I don't know if it ever got to Tasmania. I'll try and find out from George who knows it's whereabouts.
Fellow i know has a pale green one here in tas. I asked him yesterday about its history he has had it ages and bought it from the mainland to here. It has a holden conversion too.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
Justin,
It was sold in the 70's and the family don't know where it went from there, could have gone to the mainland & back again.
Problem is there are few distinguishing features apart from the accident damage mentioned. You should read about it in some of the local Tassie papers in the next week or so.

Have been in contact with the Heritage Motor Center is Gaydon, they have all the Land Rover build records but do not have registration numbers.
Tried the Dormobile club, no records because apparently the build records from Dormobile after it closed down don't exist.
Currently chasing Sussex County Historical Division to see if they have any registration records. Back when it was registered it was done at a County level (became centralised years later) so I'm hoping they may have records.
Just need to tie the UK rego to a chassis number and then Peter can then hunt down the 'actual' vehicle.
Digger - I like your thinking, should have tried this when I was looking for a Dormobile a while back. Look out for my next thread 'centre steer prototype wanted'.......

I had a chat with a bloke, named Ian, from Gippsland yesterday. He's looking for a 300tdi in any condition, but while I was telling him how no-one on vlro.com.au had replied, Dormobile popped into the conversation. And I thought of this thread.
Ian has a friend in Sydney who owns one Dormobile and knows where there is another.
If the gentleman in Tasmania is still looking, I can get a contact number for the bloke in Sydney.
Cheers
David M
