    Carawagons In Aus

    Hello hello ?

I have recently become obsessed with Carawagons (the series ones rather than the Range Rovers).

How many people in Australia have them?
I have never seen one in person.

And what are my chances of ever getting my hands on one?
It wouldn't be for probably another year or 2 due to travel plans.

    Indulge me!!!

As far as I know, they have never been sold in Australia, but a few have come in as private imports. They are very rare, and I am guessing there are less than a dozen in the country, of which maybe a third are on the road.

Advertising that you want one may get an owner to sell, but other than that I think you will find it hard to get one - although you never know!

There's been one on Gumtree for ages, claims to be ex military but looks civilian.
    The price is very ambitious.

There was one for sale in Noble Park, VIC a while ago but I think it may be the one advertised above. I also remember seeing one on ebay some years ago.
A SWB Carawagon was sold recently in QLD.

    1963 Series 2a 109" Carawagon Hardtop

    Hi All,

I have been lucky enough to stumble upon a 1963 Series 2a Carawagon Hardtop. It had been sitting in a back yard for the last 10 years after it's previous owner had passed away.

I have been told that it was a one owner car, although I do not have any paperwork to confirm this.

This will be my next project once i put Bob, my 110, back on the road.

    Nice find.

As always, they are out there, it's just finding them..........

There was one like this on Ebay some years ago, gradually being swallowed by the undergrowth, maybe the same one ? Was it in the Dandenongs because someone told me about one a while ago ?

Yes, it was in Ferntree Gully. Even though the grass had been cut, it looks as though some form of creeper had taken a hold of it as there were quite a few vines which had got onto the cab through the gaps in the floor plates..

I remember seeing this advertised a few years ago, it's nice to see that it has been rescued at last.

    Good luck with it
