Maybe. It is possible to see the fuel map name/number BUT - Some Tuners give the file the same name as a possible original to disguise it's presence.

I've got a question for the nanocom experts ...
Is it possible to identify the fuel map that is loaded to the ECU using a nanocom?
I have recently bought a '99 Disco 2 that has a NNN series ECU unit so at some stage the ECU has been changed. The two possible reasons for changing the ECU is due to a fault with the old one or so that it can be flashed with a new map. I have only driven one other TD5 and that had been heavily modified so I don't have a good reference for how a standard TD5 performs.

Yes its possible, as per Harlies pic above...
Using a late model ECU in an early vehicle lends itself to a few problems too, in finding a suitable EU2 map for the later ECU.

The EU2 maps are made for vehicles running lower injector pressures and different emissions regs.
An EU3 map will essentially run incorrect timing and fuelling into the engine. This can result in more smoke, higher EGTs and incorrect fuelling.
Sometimes the map feels more powerful, othertimes less...
Better to run a known stock map suited to EU2, and to give the stock basemap a run before re-coding it to suit the upgrade to ensure everything is ok (no surging, smoke etc)
So it might be possible to have a remapped ECU and not be able to identify it ... makes things difficult. At this stage I don't have any need for more performance as I'm quite happy with the way it goes. Very much more drivable than my Tdi.
Just want to know so that of I ever do feel the need more oomph, that I don't buy something that I already have!
I'm pleased I asked the question now. I didn't know that the EU2 and EU3 were that different. Thanks!
So does that mean that the NNN ECU shouldn't be installed in and EU2 engined vehicle? Or are they mapped differently by LR when sold as a replacement??

Mapped with a different map...
To test if this vehicle being referenced is mapped...
See if Nanocom can read the map and save it...
Then load a basic map from map generator...
If it feels sluggish then it possibly has a map on it.
If it feels the same it isnt mapped - Speak to me![]()
I'll look into this when my nanocom arrives next week.
I intend to!
I found the list of recommended EU2 maps on your site but the link to the PDF file is broken (it appears to link to a local file on your computer)
Link to EU2 Map Files List
Can you please either repair the link or post the PDF for me?
Thanks
