Td5 Map Suite
Hi !
"Create your own TUN - File for Td5 "
Yes off course, I know it isnīt that easy and much more complicate than man think - but in this forum there are a lot of real TD5-SW-Experts .
Maybe this link is known, otherwise take a look to this very interesting project.
IMHO in every case itīs now easy to understand different tunings and can watch the changings of values corresponding to engine characteristic.
Luca has not identified all 115 single tables of the Td5 map yet - only 14 are discovered ... that are the modified tables of most tunings.
The others ( called "esotic" maps ) may can bring further infos to the Td5-map-mystery - f.e. the reading and limiting the boost pressure.
Maybe we can find the table that brings Td5 into limp mode when overboosting , so a modifying the values can solve this issue ( without the boostbox ) ???
Just now Luca opened a Blog regarding his SW - I īm looking forward for interesting discussions.
Ciao Hannes

I'm surprised no one has commented on this site.
I must say I was a little hesitant.
I've known about this site for a while now, and the last couple of days I thought stuff it I'm going to give it a go.
I updated my original evo to the latest firmware and read my stock td5 D2 map.
I downloaded a d2 modified fuel map the the mapsuite site and exported the fueling from it then I loaded my stockmap and imported the fueling files in.
Re-saved the map and rewrote my ecu.
Man I wished I had the guts to do this ages ago, I've only had a short run with the new map but what a difference.

Hello,
Well done on you re-map, I have been looking at it for a while now, a little hesitant to give it a go. There is a lot to it, getting it wrong could cost you your motor. I am looking forward to more posts on your progress.

I don't wish to be negative but I think it's important to point out that while Luca has identified 14 maps - by looking at commercial remaps - but he doesn't really know what they are.
The information on most of the "identified" maps is incorrect, and if you were modifying based on that information you could well damage your engine.
As an example what is described as a Throttle Map with instructions that "increments improve throttle response" does something completely different to what it says on the box. I'd recommend you fit an EGT probe and see what "adjusting the throttle response" does to your EGT's.
cheers

Often wondered how dangerous it is
If you have good power little smoke and good EGTs I presume you are pretty right.
Pretty sure those with a vested interest will tell us the sky will fall in if we do it ourselves. (and they might be right)
I do have enormous respect for Jose at TD5Inside some of the maps he has done for me have been brilliant.
Others to a lesser degree.

If you don't experiment you don't learn.
In my younger we would spend hours in mates sheds with a die grinder trying to improve flow on heads and we didn't use readings from flow benches to measure anything you'd tell by bolting the heads on and driving.
I feel editing values in the ecu is the same, Except you can do it in the lounge on a laptop.
The more people play the better knowledge people gain.
You don't here discouragement from people if you want to play with the 300tdi fueling because that's mechanical.

I'm not discouraging anyone from tweaking, just pointing to the issues with the software.
I personally don't think that experimenting is going to cut it when dealing with complex engine management systems.
I've posted a few things about what I'm doing with the Td5 ECU here: http://www.discotd5.com/ecu-tech/ecu...se-engineering

Hello,
Again good luck with your re-mapping still interested how it progress goes. Yes it would be good to write your own files, but for the price, and service you get from TD5 Inside it isn't worth it.

Tried a different map today the first one loaded was a bit to aggressive on initial take off. The new one is more linear.
I'm not seeing any smoke from my rear view and my water temp is normal as per my nanocom.
Also the flat spot on take off is much less now.
