Thread: Can you read and clear fault codes through the obd port using a Nanocom

Hi Bronson.

Yes, faults cleared via Nanocom plugged into OBD port.

Navigate to SLABS (Discovey) block, enter, Read Faults ... what were they ?

Then same again but page across to Clear Faults.

Ign' must be a pos'II ... turn key to posII JUST before you push the "Read" or "Clear" options on the Nanocom.

If they clear, only the ABS light will stay on ... until you travel over about 15km/hr, then it should extinguish.

I've lost you a little there. Not quite sure about where I find the slabs menu?
When I check faults with the Nanocom it doesn't list anything. I'm guessing I'm plugged into the right plug under the dash? On the drivers side it's a black plug same as on the Nanocom.

SLABS may be listed as ABS, Brakes or similar. I haven't got the D2 Nanocom so can't check. There's only one plug it will connect to.

It's listed as SLABS ABS from memory.

There is one menu for the Defender ABS, one for the Discovery2 Slabs/ABS.

Sorted.

It was a two tier problem. Bronson was used to just using the TD5 module which is the first one displayed when the unit boots up, so didn't realise you could use the buttons to access the other modules. Once we had that sorted out it turned out that the unlock codes for most of the modules, including the WABCO ABS hadn't been entered.

Anyway check the codes and the SLABS ECU is logging a 23-05 fault.
This is Shuttle Valve Switch Electrical Failure (Intermittent), and appears to be a non-permanent variant of the 11-4 fault code.
