I recently received my Nanocom from BBS and today decided to set it up prior to a trip coming up next week.
First problem emerged when I couldn't get past the registration page....kept getting the error message "ID Product code not valid".
When I go to the download which shows how to do it:
.... then restricted Area from the Top Menu bar and then follow
the Not Registered link to register the unit (bottom of the screen).
Enter the information required (denoted by a *) you will need to know the Unlock ID
number of your Nanocom which you can obtain from the menu by going into
NANOCOM – SETUP -NANOCOM ID.
This last bit doesn't appear on my screen.
I've sent an e-amil to BBS but suspect the time difference will mean I won't get an answer til late today.
Anyone know how to guide me through this?
Alan.

Hi Gavin.
Yes I'm trying to get the ID code to register the thing. I've just read the FAQs on the website and it appears to get these the unit has to be powered up.
Can this be done using an outlet port on my laptop? I'll give it a whirl later as if it's just a 12v outlet it shouldn't do any harm!!!! BANG.
Cheers.
Alan.
The ID code for mine came on a label stuck to an alloy plate in the packaging taped around the unit to protect the screen during shipping. Find an appropriate power block with the right voltage and amp output to power up as it needs constant clean power especially during upgrades. Loosing power during an upgrade can brick it and possibly need be returned to BBS.
You can power it off a USB port. It will power into a screen with four boxes along the bottom, you just need to select the one titled diagnostics which will drop you into the normal Nanocom operating screen.
I usually just run mine off USB for upgrades. Providing you don't do anything daft like unplugging the USB cable mid-update you should be right.
cheers
Paul
Things are happening....I plugged it into the laptop and hey presto, got the ID code and am now waiting for the e-mail from Cyprus.
Thanks for the prompting folks.
Alan.
You don't need anything from BBS support to register and get your unlock codes.
got to :: Area Riservata - Nanocom :: and create an account using the nanocom id. you get a password emailed back automagically.
Once you get your password log in at :: Area Riservata - Nanocom ::
When you are logged in click on the "Browsing licenses" link and you'll have your unlock codes.
cheers

Therein lay the problem Paul, I couldn't get the ID code to set up an account BUT after re-reading the instructions and prompting by others here, I powered it by using the laptop and all was well.
I've now input the unlock codes and power cycled it.....next move will be to plug it in to the beast and see what happens.
Another queston though. Does the unit come with an SD card? I see there's a slot for one and the User Guide gives instructions for restoring the unit but I'm sure there wasn't one in the package.
Or did I throw it out!!!!
Cheers.
Alan.
They don't come with a sdcard. You could have purchased one from the BBS website but there isn't much point. A known brand card of less than 8GB should do the trick. I'm running a 20MB/s 8gb SanDisk Ultra with no issues that I can see - they are under $20 from reputable sources.
regarding SD card there was some advice from BlackBox Solutions, I read it last night while going through all the downloads n stuff, they recommend getting a good quality SD card, and they even went so far as to recommend a specific brand, and minimum size, might have even been Kingston 8GB micro SD with adaptor.
They only mentioned it because there had been customer reports of issues with SD cards so they tried a number of them out.
