Seems odd, when I ordered the hose they had quoted prices. I needed to enquire about freight to Oz though. Looks like they are no longer updating the web prices.

I also bought a beta unit for my D3, directly from Gap in Canada. Their support has been great, and I think the tool provides a good set of functionality for a fair price. I'm glad though that I didn't have to faff about with Britpart like the original poster had to...

As far as OBII connectors, when I first received my IIDTool I had a few problems and thought the device was faulty. After some diagnostic steps with the Gap guys, we realised it was my vehicle's OBDII connector at fault. A close inspection revealed that the contacts in the connector were overly flattened (from the service guys plugging in their diag tools a bit too often ???) which resulted in intermittent contact with the IIDtool.

I ws able to carefully remove each pin one at a time from the connector housing, use a jewellers screwdriver to push the contacts back out a bit, and put the pin back in to the housing. This sorted things out.

Photos below show before, during and after the fix.

I am in the process of buying one of these at the moment.

I filled in the forum on the Britpart site which says they will email the details of my nearest distributor. However they didn't do this, without my consent they passed on my details to an Australian distributor, who in turn contacted me - that's illegal in the UK under the data protection act.

Meanwhile, I had found a UK distributor selling theh IID tool on ebay but I thought I would support local jobs and buy from an Australian distributor providing the price was comparable.

The Aussie distributor told me that they don't stock the item and would have to order it from the UK. Cost to me delivered would be $770

My cost to purchase from the UK on ebay, including courier delivery, $465.

And Aussie retailers wonder why they are struggling ...

    Was that direct from Britpart?

I thought they were just a wholesaler. It says on the home page of their site "Britpart is a wholesale company and does not supply end users."

    Sorry my bad.

Brit parts and british parts are different.

Mine was through Jaguar Parts | Land Rover parts | Range Rover Parts | British Parts UK.

I think gap need to find another distributor or lose business.

You should contact britpart and inform them they have broken the law or report them.

It didn't stop me buying the GAP IID tool, I just bought it from a UK distributor via eBay, but the Britpart experience was a total waste of time.

GAP could surely find a better distribution partner.

My total cost from the UK ended up being AUD$452 (including freight) compared with $770 from the Australian distributor.

Assuming the Aussie distributor is buying at wholesale rates from Bripart it means their profit margin must be 100% or more!

I ordered the IIDtool today at Land Rover Parts and Spares Direct (product no DA6400.C8) around AU$385.43 including freight to Sydney.

I wasn't sure between Faultmate MSV-2 and IIDtool but the price gap was too big and the reviews on the forum was convincing for IIDtool.

I hope this electric spanner will give me peace of mind on the road somewhere in the outback.

    Cheers,

    Ed
