Discovery 2 Instrument to BCU sync

    Hi Guys

I have just put a new instrument panel (well second hand with 96000k's on it) after 3 years of intermittent working on the old one. I plugged it in and it fired up ok. The km reading is blinking as expected, so i tool my nanocom 1 with firmware 2.05 and sync'd the odometer. Nothing happened and after trying several times both via laptop and via the unit i cant get them to sync to the 166000k's that the bcu has stored.

Has anyone successfully done a sync with a nanocom 1? if so.. whats the trick? TD5 2002 Disco II

    Thanks

    Steve

I've tried the same with a Nanocom 1 with version 2.08 firmware and it didn't work.

Contact BBS support about the problem. If they don't know about it how do you expect them to fix it?

    I Did...

The reply was along the lines of - We dont know much about the nanocom 1 so we dont know.

Then i mentioned they HAD updated the firmware so should know something, the reply was yeah we added auto box etc but added nothing to the BCU. The only functionality is what is there.. but the new nanocom does it..

So I guess it will remain so that it doesnt work, or functions in some other way?

Hence the reason I ask on here..

The One and the Evo run on the same underlying code for the modules - this has been confirmed by Colin in the past. The big difference between the two is the graphics and the way the obdII interface operates.

If this aspect of the BCU module doesn't work on the One 2.08 firmware, there is a pretty good chance it won't work on the EVO either. There are no changes to this functionality noted in the EVO change-log going back as far as July 2011. The 2.08 firmware came out in December 2011.

    cheers

There is apparently a difference between the one and the evo...

the one has just a straight sync, the evo has specified a sync one way or the other..

I obviously haven't paid too much attention to that section of the BCU module

It's just a button press operation so I can't see how you can really do it wrong. Obviously on mine it just pops up a message saying the odometer and bcu are already synchronised.

Its been a few months since I tried it out but from memory the Nanocom 1 with 2.08 firmware has options for the sync both ways.
In the Valeo BCU selection under the "Utility" Menu you should find:
"Sync BCU to odometer" and "Sync odometer to BCU"

But BB solutions claim they know nothing about it....

hmmm... be nice to have it confirmed by them...
