    Alarm

I've just checked out the alarm on my 99MY Defender TD5 Extreme with a Nanocom and it is there and functioning: it is a 315MHz model. Now all I have to do is get a fob for it. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get one at a reasonable price please?

    Thanks,

    Howard

The alarm fob arrived today and I have programmed it and the alarm with the Nanocom. I have a couple of questions I hope someone can answer for me:

    1. Passive Immobil. If enabled does it cause the alarm to set and immobilise the engine even if you do not turn the alarm on with the fob? If not, what is it?

    2. C.D.L. When Arm. I have it set to None. What does it do if Active?

    3. Alarm Sound. I have it set to pulsed and when the alarm is triggered I can hear a relay clicking but there is no alarm sound. Is it supposed to use the car horn or should there be some other audible device/

    4. Car. Overheat Enabled/Disabled. What is this?

    5. Time Error None/Allowed. And this?

Finally, I have read about the IKA Code but what are EDC code, EGR/DDS code, GEMS code and TD5-MEMS code/

    Thanks

Have a look at the BBS documentation for the relevant module:

    ECU/Software Module Information System

    LUCAS 10AS ALARM (SM031)

Everything is explained in a fairly concise manner. If you need more detail RAVE is usually the next stop (After a quick peek at the relevant parts of RAVE I'll add the caveat "except for the Defenders").

    cheers

Good info - thanks. If I read the info correctly the alarm should be connected to a sounder and to the horn(s). When It is triggered I can hear the relay clicking on and off but there is no noise from a sounder or the horn.

Maybe it is a wiring problem - does anyone know where the sounder is located? Should the horn go off when alarmed?

    Thanks, Howard

Problem solved - faulty sounder relay in the interior fuse box. Solenoid was operating but the contacts were not making correctly. Showed OK on the multimeter but did not function correctly under load. Opened it up, applied contact cleaner and closed again so all works. Will replace the relay to be sure though.
