To be on the safe side I bought a 433Mhz receiver from Bundalene on Ebay as a poster had the receiver die on them. I suspect it is this that has happened and a PO did not want to spend all the labour to have the headlining removed to get to it..

Owning a D2 is such fun.

Mine were consecutive, so you will probably find that one is a digit up or down. If you can access a Nanocom, it will tell you the key code.

I just programmed the BCU for a key just then. Having never done it before, it took about 10mins. Next time it would take about 3. I'm not sure why the dealers apparently charge so much to do this.

Yes I have found the second key was listed in the ECU as 3 digits different to the first key. Interestingly there were also 2 additional key codes in the ECU which ar enot with teh car and completely different .

My ecu showed passive immobilisation disabled, and I was not game to enable it.
I did an RF test on both keys but no RF at all. I think I will change the receiver before I go further.
Does anyone know if passive immobilisation needs to be enabled before an RF test works?
It tests the nerves doing this stuff.

I have the same situation with the last 2 slots having keys programmed in. Who knows what may have happened in times past... lost keys.... dealer testing. Its on my list of things to do to remove them.

Regarding non working remotes, I hate to ask the obvious ? but are the batteries OK in the keys. Pressing a button will result in the red LED lighting on the key.

I don't think the passive immobiliser and remote central locking are related/dependent. My reading of the handbook is that it just passively immobilises the engine should you forget to lock the doors. Putting the key in the ignition and turning to position II will re-mobilise the engine.

If it is any help, attached are the default settings from when I first plugged the Nanocom into my car ( 2003 D2a) after I bought it. It and the online docs from Black box may assist in working out if is a simple setting problem.

Both my keys light up on both buttons. On one the unlock micro switch was broken but I fixed it.

The PO bought the car when it was 4 years old and the remotes have never worked .
I suspect that the receiver in the headlining is broken, and the labour cost of replacing it was too much for the first owner.
I am aware of the settings required, but the RF test failed, and this should work whether the keys are synched or not. The Nanocom evo tells whether they are synched keys, unsynched or unknown.
