Lightbulb D3 OBD II U480 Advice please

    Gday...

The following OBD II reader has been recommended as "good value".

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/U480-OBD2...item27d178fbf0

Do any of the wise heads on here use one?
Any advice on their worth for fault finding?

and to close with a dumb question
just where is the OBD II "port" in a 2006 D3 TDV6?

    Cheers - John

The D3/D4 RRS has about 22 - 23 different computer modules. ( not that you car has them all active)
I doubt this reader would read anywhere near what I would call satisfactory.

If you are going to buy a fault code reader then spend the money and buy the Blackbox FCR

I have found it invaluable many times.

BTW the port is above the accelerator pedal near the door.

    BlackBoc FRC

    Hi ~Rich~

I've just acquired the FCR for my D4 and have found it easy to use. Though not finding any errors throughout my vehicle I would be interested in the type of errors you've had to deal with and been able to sort out using yours.

Any feedback and comment would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I've had errors caused by dodgy batteries, I blanked my EGR valves when they where still operating fine, latter on I had EGR faults which are not a problem on an 05 appear. But at least I knew that that was the case.

I've had Transmittion faults / limited gears available recently on a trip, cleared them with the FCR but they did reoccur but at least it meant I didnt only had 3rd gear on a 5hr trip! I had to pull over a few times and clear them.

I've had suspension faults, which turned out to be the compressor.

At least I can find out what the codes are and contact my mechanic for diagnosis on what to do. Every time I've been able to clear them and continue on.
