Faultmate vs hawkeye vs IID BT for D3

I know there is a lot of of information on here and I have trolled through a lot of it but I am finding it all quite confusing so can I please ask a question based on my personal needs.

Basically I have a D3, I have a moderate amount of basic mechanical knowledge but very little knowledge or expertise of vehicle electronics, control systems and diagnostics.

However I am doing more and more remote touring and am considering buying a tool that is
    - User friendly
    - allows clearing of fault codes and some basic diagnostic information that I may be able to use
    - allows reading of information which I could send to or discuss with a Land Rover specialist by phone, or a country mechanic could use to discuss with a Land Rover specialist.

Can those with experience give me any advice on which device is likely to be the most appropriate for me, or any others I may not have considered.?

I'm in the same boat as well as needing to reset service reminder.

I have never used any but read the brochures and watched the videos and they all seem to do about the same basic features that will satisfy me.

I've decided to wait 4-6 weeks for the iidtool bt version for d3. For me it came down price and being able to use my iPhone. If I can't use the phone I can still use the dash. I don't want to lug yet another dedicated device and definitely not a laptop to read the faults.

Just my 2c but I'm sure others can give you plenty of advice based on actual experience.

The Faultmate FCR will also do what you want Andrew, however it will only read and reset.

The ones you have mentioned will allow you to access service routines and the CCF. (service reset, suspension TTM and calibration, live data etc)

At this time as I understand it only the MSV-2 allows full access to the CCF and reflashing ECUs.

The IID Tool has the added advantage of allowing you to have 3 height calibrations saved so you can use it like LLAMS, though it would not be as user friendly.

I'm torn between IID Tool and the MSV-2 as I really want full access to the CCF and to be able to reflash, the IID Tool is adding more functionality over time and is significantly cheaper.

That is correct, though they tell me that it should be available soon.

Which of these systems can program keys/remotes on the D3?

I've already got a hawkeye and nancom evo left over from my D2 ownership. I know I can add a license for the hawkeye, and I know black box is working on a D3 update for the nanocom, and then I can get a license for that. Based on my D2 experience, I'm inclined to wait on the nanocom, but I'm also getting excited to dive into reading codes and changing settings on my "new" vehicle.

The hawkeye websites give very little details on exactly what it can do on D3. And I'm not sure I want to pay $200 plus cables to get a system that can only read and clear faults, if that's all it can do.

Personally I didn't want or need something with all the bells and whistles, so settled on the IID Tool BT. Has been working well, am testing the fuel consumption change to reduce the lie (can't believe the default to +7%!).

Writing to the CCF isn't for the faint hearted; quite a lot of error messages and restarts happens when it writes, but it's all cleared at the end. Instructions on-screen are pretty clear, and BT gives all the lines in one go.
