I'd be surprised if the Nanocom was corrupting cards.
One thing you might want to try out is hooking up the Nanocom to your computer with the card left in the slot. The Nanocom should boot up as a storage device which will mount on the desktop. You should be able to transfer files off the card that way.
The other thing you can try is using the SDFormatter to format the card with it mounted in the Nanocom as above.

reformatted sd card in the pc
then resaved map file to sdcard in pc and tried to load via nanocom. get 'file protected' message.
saved file to pc then opened using 'textpad' and saved to sdcard in pc then try to load via nanocom. get 'file protected' message.
saved from email straight to sdcard in nanocom and try to load. get 'file protected' message.
there is no file being created on the sdcard alerting to what the problem may be as the nanocom instructions say there should be.
at this rate i may as well go buy another car as it will end up working out cheaper if i actually start costing my own time!
well and truly sick of this bloody thing.
Did you format the card in the Nanocom?
If you feel like sending me the Evo and an express post bag for return I'll have a look at it for you. At least that way you'll know if it's the Nanocom or some other factor.
Add: I've just hooked up my Nanocom to an XP virtual machine.
I had no problem copying a file to the card mounted on the Nanocom and could format the mounted card using SDFormatter.
The "file protected" would suggest the SDCard is locked.

i wish/hope it is as simple as being the sdcard locked. i've tried every permutation/combination i can think of eg card locked/unlocked, open map file and save using text editor, save direct to sdcard from email, format with sdcard mounted in nanocom etc etc. the only one i could not do was using sdformatter doing FORMAT TYPE Full (Overwrite) with the sdcard mounted in nanocom. it was going at a rate where it might take a week to finish. when using sdformatter had format size adjustment ON.
retried again tonight and i just keep getting inconsistent results. the nanocom either locks up, tells me the file is protected, or the process gets a step further then tells me map file is not for a td5.
the most frustrating/annoying part is no file is generated onto the sdcard by the nanocom to give just the slightest hint of where to start looking for what the problem is.
i just can't reconcile why it gives different results when you replicate the same process.
paul - if you can't think of anything else obvious to test i will take up your kind offer to have a look at it.

Are you trying to upload the file with the nanocom stand alone or with the nanocom conected to the computer??
Our dealer in Malta was having similiar problems and all was sorted when he started to upload the maps with no conection to the laptop!

the laptop was not connected to the nanocom at the same time.
can't recall if i wrote it earlier in the post, but i was able to copy the map currently on the td5 ecu onto the sdcard in the nanocom (this was the first thing i did as soon as i got the map off jose), just can't get it to go the other way.
paul - got your pm. thanks, look like i will take up your offer as there is nothing obvious jumping still outstanding to test.
