Did it coincide with turning the lights on?
May be a faulty earth
Its the readings I'm talking about, not the nanocom being weird!!
I'm driving my just acquired bucket list RRC LSE TD5 from Queensland back to WA. The RRC has been fitted with the OBD port that came with the donor 1999 TD5 - and my nanocom reads it!!!
The coolant temp on instrument mode normally sits between 80 - 85 (incidentally quite a bit lower than my D2a with new radiator), however, when it got cool this evening the nanocom temp reading dropped from 70's to high 30's, with a concurrent slight lowering of the original LR temp gauge.
Could I have a faulty sensor, thermostat, or ??? I can't believe its the nanocom.

Sounds like an interesting car Gavin. I'm always partial to the classic and had a soft dash before the disco. Hopefully the transport inspectors here won't give you too much grief with the registration.
You'll have to come over and show it off when you get back
Safe travels
Steve
Agree faults like that are usually bad or faulty earthing.
.... but you could try swapping the fuel temp sensor and water temp sensor over, they are the same part number, that way you will know if the fault is the sensor itself or elsewhere.
how about a photo, RRC with a Td5 I'd like to see that !
What temp does your D2 sit on the HWY, the thermostat (TD5) doesn't fully open until 96deg according to RAVEThe coolant temp on instrument mode normally sits between 80 - 85 (incidentally quite a bit lower than my D2a with new radiator
How is the thermostat set up on the TD5/RRC, maybe it's stuck open??
Thanks guys. Will have to wait until I get home, then will do pics etc, plus will double check nanocom still works normally on the D2 before other checks/ options/ swaps etc.
Nanocom is now cycling between about 80 then 40, then 80, then 40 etc with the original RRC gauge sitting just below half most of the time, so will ignore but keep doing an ocassional glance.
TD5 mods are QLD blue slipped, and my local authorised station in Spearwood doesn't seem to think there will be too much trouble ie hopefully he can transfer rego without going to DoT/Welshpool or whatever. If not will probably have to contact Rod Style.
D2a usually sits on about 90-92 on highway running with other mods probably helping with a little underbonnet cooling.
