With any mis behaviour on any CAN bus based vehicle like the D3, that does not sort itself out, the first thing to try is what is refferred to as a hard reset.
Disconnect the battery, preferably both terminals and use something to temporarily short them together. That would be the vehicle side not the battery terminals LOL.
This causes residual power to drain from all the vehicle ECU's much faster than waiting alone.
give it at least 10 seconds then re connect them and see if this fixes the problem.
