TD5 Air-con problem.
2002 TD5 Defender
Folks, having trouble with the air-con. Nanocom logs condenser fan and clutch fault. When I do the test on them using the nanocom, nothing.
Off to the auto sparky and he informs me the solenoid that cuts in the fan and clutch isn't getting a signal to do so from the ecu. Solenoid is fine. He was very thorough and didn't want to charge for his time as he wasn't able to fix it. He suggested I might have to send the ecu away or chase up a specialist. Just thought I would ask here first, see if anyone has any ideas.
Cheers Tod.

All, please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I am no expert on the system.
I have a 99MY Td5 Defender and it has a locally fitted LR AC system as standard. It is not wired up the same as the UK factory fitted system as fitted to the UK county models. It does not supply a signal to the ECU to raise the idle like the Discovery or County models and this is why it logs compressor/clutch faults on the Nanocom.
This is what I have been told by a Melbourne based independent workshop.
I realise yours is an 02MY but it may be similar.
Cheers
Nino.

Thanks Nino
No idea if mine is UK spec or fitted out her in Aus. Will do a search to discover how one tells the difference.
