Question Discovery 2 Nanocom SLABS Fault

    Hey all,
Anyone know what this fault is all about:
"15-04 front left outlet valve open circuit
    Intermittent 15 times"
    Cheers.

Yes, it's a valve within the ABS modulator, usually it's a wiring issue between the modulator and the ECU cos there's a point whetre the harness can rub against the body where it enters into the cabin but it needs investigation, or it can be corrosion in the ECU plug if you've had water ingress at a time the worst scenario is that you'll have to replace the modulator

go with nanocom in INPUTS menu and check if the SLABS is working for that outlet valve to rule this out:

to 3.6 Volts and when not being driven, should be around 0 to 0.5 Volts.
if you nwant to DIY and you have RAVE(cos you need the connector view for pin disposals) i can tell you how to measure the valve's solenoid resistance to see if it's that or not also a continuity check on the wiring between the ECU and modulator on that particular wire would be relevant

not easy to troubleshoot nor cheap if the modulator is gone cos that valve is not available as spare and you cant replace it yourself ... the easyer but more expensive way is to get hold of a known good modulator to swap it and if the fault will come back after that you can start chasing the wiring issue which can be a pain in the b*tt

Thank you for taking the time to make such a detailed reply. So I guess I'm looking for a wiring/connector issue as a first port of call. I didn't think the fault was one of the usual ones. .

Welcome, if you have RAVE see Electrical library - connector views , identify C0506 pin 1 on the SLABS and C0501 - 1 on the modulator, the connection is hardwired with a grey/white wire that's the one you must check for continuity, you can measure resistance across C0501 -1 and earth(this is the front left OV's solenoid) and compare with C0501-13 to earth(front right OV which has no fault on it) they must have the same resistance, if they dont match i'm affraid you need a modulator
