    Nanocom first use- (strange?) observations

Finally had a run in my 2012 defender (2.2, TDCi) this afternoon, and was foolin' around with the nanocom. Hoping to get some opinions on my observations:

    1) Oil temp was all over the place - from 192 celsius, down to negative 20 (yes, NEGTAIVE). There did not appear to be any trend with the oil temp, however I'd expect the oil temp to be slightly hotter than coolant temp (engine oil accounts for approx half the engines cooling, in my understanding). Any thought on this value?

    2) I had 3 ECU error codes, of these, none were current (all historical). P0113 IAC high input, P065B Generator control circuit range / input (this code was repeated twice). I'll probably research these, and clear them myself, if not let the dealer work it out with the next service.

    3) I could not make heads nor tails of the "Boost Driver %", "Boost des. pos %" and "Boost act. pos. %" measures - Can anyone explain?

    Cheers!

Did you have the unit plugged in while you were driving or did you take the readings after the drive?

I've got mine but haven't had chance to do anything with it yet so haven't really come to grips with how it works.

For the oil temp erratic readings it can be the sensor gone or some circuit issue(let's hope not)... you should replace the sensor to rule it out

those "boost ... %" readings the closest they are to each other the better cos it's about the demand, the output to actuator and the real position of the actuator so if one of them is too different than the others there's some issue in that area

about the fault codes erase them and read again after a longer drive cos they might not be there anymore ... do you have the car from new or bought it used?

I have had the car for about 13 months, and it was used with 20,000km when I purchased, now just shy of 30,000.

I took a 45 min drive to get used to the nanocom (it was plugged in), so there was a mix of back streets (<60km/h) and some 100km/h driving.
I was observing the gauge when driving as best I could and the oil pressure would jump around when driving, and at idle when I took the pics.

I was also doing some 4th gear 80-100km/h pulls, I could clearly hear the turbo spooling, but was only reading approx 40% on the "Boost des pos %" readout. When off the gas it was approx 50-60% while coasting.

We've got a long drive coming up at the end of this week so hopefully I can get mine plugged in and have a play with it.

Did you have the fuse box cover off and the cable hanging out or did you run the cable some other way? I had planned on moving the plug and installing the cable behind the speaker but I haven't had chance yet.

    Removed the cover for now.
In a perfect world I'd relocate the connector to somewhere a bit more suitable. It's not in the way, but would undoubtedly get knocked off when getting into / out of the car regularly if it was in that location full-time.

We spoke to the mechanic at our dealer when we took mine in for its service and he said just to move it behind the speaker and when its serviced to let them know and they'd just pull the speaker out to access the plug.

Have you got the latest update? I used to have funny readings as well and after I updated to the latest release it worked. I think the update is 1.29.

Definitely something to look into. It's new so unless the latest update was a month or so ago, I'd hope it was shipped with the latest update.
I honestly haven't looked at it since. There's a bit of reading and research on the device that I'm yet to get stuck into.
