    L322 Best scan tool?

Hi guys can anyone recommend a good scan/diagnostic tool for the L322. I have an intermittent Air suspension fault when I go over a bump whilst turning it triggers a hard fault and locks air suspension and hill decent and shows abs fault....I am sick of pulling into the driveway and having to spend $120 to reset faults!!!!

I had seen the Hawk-eye for under $500 on eBay and thought this might be a good option but would like to hear your thoughts!!!

    Hi

I use Hawkeye on version 7.

Probably not as vercitle as others but can do almost anything the layman needs to do and is almost bullet proof!

The other advantage is it is unlocked for ALL L322's not just your own.

It has disadvantages too. I like the sound of the GAP BT a lot of guys have on here but as I have a machine can not justify the cost.

    Cheers, Jerry

I picked my BTIID tool up from Luck8 in the US when I was there last year for a pretty good price, but not under $500 like Jerry. They were great to deal with.

The BTIID tool is also VIN locked unlike Jerry's.

However it provides a wide variety of live information and allows you to recalibrate settings such as transmission and EAS. You can also adjust EAS height settings. The iPhone or iPad display is very good.

Frisbee had that problem with his and he found a mechanic in Brissie who knew of a wiring loom fault. He fixed Frisbee's.

I had a wiring loom fault that was occurring under the back seat side panel near the wheel arch. The wiring loom was getting crushed under a plastic locating pin for the trim panel. I'll try and find the post I did.
Mine was causing a suspension fault but was only triggered when people sat in the rear right seat.

I have an IID Tool BT for the D4. Much of its capability is not VIN locked.
This info is from an email from Gap when I inquired about using it on another vehicle:

Full diagnostic capabilities (free of charge on any supported vehicles for the IIDTool BT)
    - Fault read / clear
    - Live values
    - Control outputs
    - Service / test functions (this includes wheel alignment TTM)

Advanced programming functions (IIDTool BT: one free VIN, additional license 60 GBP):
    - Suspension height modification
    - ECU Flash
    - Car Configuration File editing
    - Component and system calibration (steering angle sensor calibration etc)
    - Advanced functions including backup / restore, save profiles ? vehicle system settings and
configurations are read and stored as a backup file for a restore function, various changes
to systems (e.g. suspension height) can be stored and changed quickly

    Costs around $700 these days.

    Regards,
    Scott

I have the ICARSOFT- TF930 - I can recommend it for an entry level simple to use tool which clears MOST things on my 02 TD6, as well as a few other land rovers.

I don't know what they are worth now, but I would assume you could pick one up for under $300.

I have the RSW Allcoms as well, and it is too basic and limited.

I have the GAP IID tool (Blue tooth); excellent. Pre-programmed additional off road heights etc. Highly recommend.

    Thanks for the info!

With the gap tool can you modify air suspension for example so when a camper trailer is connected it doesn't lock the vehicle in road height as this would be very helpful to change for towing up the beach?

on my MY12 I can set whatever height I want; so, I could set a height using the BT device and my iPhone that is say equivalent to off-road height, and the car will stay at that height as if its normal height, until I plug in the GAP BT and change it back (simple process as its pre set).

So, you can attach the camper and just drive normally - the car is already at off road height; then if I depress the "off road height button" the car raises again - to effectively extended height. Above 45km/hr - or whatever speed the car usually chimes and then drops back to normal height - the car will in this case drop from extended to the new "normal" (off road) height you have set up with the GAP tool.

    cheers
