    D4 V8 error

    I get the error "P0106-00 (AE) Manifold absolute pressure/barometric sensor range/performance" intermittently, at first it was every week or so and then every day or two.
    I replaced the MAP sensor (3 months ago) and the fault stayed away for two weeks, then it started occurring every week or so and now it is back to a couple of times a week.

    I wanted to log it with my IID Tool however it doesn't seem to log MAP only the external barometric pressure as I see no change when logging.

    I'm wondering if I was unlucky with my replacement sensor or do I have a wire that is either intermittently shorting or a connector going going high.

    I haven't had a chance to check the wiring or connectors yet as I'm in the middle of house renos (currently no floor in living and dining rooms) but expect to get to it in a week or two.

    Any suggestions or ideas are welcomed.

    its not a common fault at all,,,
    /performance;
    it would be nice if we got a maf fault when it gets too slow/old/worn, but I've never read about one,,

    how can you overpressure an intake manifold?
    leaky inlet valve?

    In this case the sensor is there to look at manifold vacuum. The error indicates that the sensor is going out of range, which I suspect is due to an electrical problem as it is very intermittent and occurs when running (from memory of occurrences) usually at 2000 rpm or more. If it was a leaky valve/s pressurising the intake manifold it would occur a lot more often.
    If I could log an occurrence, I could perhaps see if it was due to the circuit going short or open.

    I've seen cases when strangely this code was triggered by dirt or water ingress in the throttle body while the MAP was perfect.... though it was not on a D4

    I sent an email to GAP diagnostics and Patrick came back to me and suggested I look in the un-tested live monitoring section. There it was, MAP sensor output and MAP sensor voltage.
    Strangely since I have been monitoring there have been no errors. It is a bit of a pain to go through the menu and set-up the logging every time you get in the car so I might suggest to GAP they should think about a favourites for logging to make it easier.

    Had another play with the IID Tool and low and behold GAP Diagnostics heard my subliminal request for a favourites in the live data and installed it while I wasn't looking the clever buggers.
