    Gauges with alarms

My search foo is letting me down. Are there any gauges for EGT, Oil Temp, etc. which also give an audible warning?

I've seem the obvious Engine Savers/etc. which do things in a single unit but no individual gauges.

    Do such things exist?

There's a couple out there that I know of - the Murphy switch gauges are available for water temp and oil pressure and create a ground contact at a pre dedermined setpoint which can be used to trigger an alarm - Gauges | FW Murphy Production Controls

Then there's the Road runner versions which is probably closer to what you're after.

Temp - Water Temperature Gauge 52mm with audible Alarm - AMBER BACKLIT - www.roadrunneroffroad.com.au

EGT - EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature) Gauge 52mm with audible Alarm (Pyro) - AMBER BACKLIT - www.roadrunneroffroad.com.au

Oil pressure - Oil pressure Gauge 52mm PSI with audible Alarm - AMBER BACKLIT - www.roadrunneroffroad.com.au

Oil temp - Oil Temp Gauge 52mm PSI with audible Alarm - AMBER BACKLIT - www.roadrunneroffroad.com.au

Madman EMS, have a search on here or their website.
Does everything you ask, also kits available to suit landrover.
But i am a little lost in your post, do you want a multi gauge or single gauges?

I have an EGT gauge and boost gauge which have user defined alarms.
However I don't use them as they go off every time you turn on the ignition and drive you mad. Thye also change colour from white /blue to red when the alarm goes off.
They are sold by this mob and so far have been good.
I think they are the same as the SAAS ones and Autotechnica.
Items in CRISP MODS store on eBay !

I installed the EMS2 in my D1 and between that and the low coolant alarm, it has saved my bacon multiple times (especially when driving fully loaded in temps over 50C).

Murphy 'switchgages" as mentioned above by Homestar are good quality gauges which were installed in a header (Aussie terminology for combine harvester) I owned long ago. For engine water temperature and oil pressure. They were wired up to blow horn when water temperature pointer touched adjustable pointer in gauge. The wire into gauge earthed out when water temperature reached preset level and for oil, when pressure dropped to preset level. Two major disadvantages with them: Gauges cannot indicate higher temperature or lower oil pressure than pointer set at if it occurs. Also, if there is a malfunction in the horn, alarm or engine shutdown device that depends on the unit working to provide protection, then it will not.

Since then I have use a cheap effective setup with a temperature sensitive switch on the cylinder head which OPENS, not closes when the temperature gets too hot. For some diesels. 95 degrees C adequate but others including 300Tdi 105 degrees does not open to early. Power fed through this can go to engine shutoff on diesels which have one controlled electrically. An electrically controlled fuel solenoid is used between secondary fuel filter and injector pump on older diesels with manual shutoff. The adjustable oil pressure switch works the opposite way from one for low oil pressure lights. It is only closed when oil pressure up. With this, you need an override push button to hold until oil pressure builds up after starting engine. Also, if engine stops due to head temperature switch activated, it will run with the override button held down. This allows it to be run while over safety device setting usually for a short time to allow eg moving vehicle /machine to a more convenient parking spot. The point at which the switch opened is still likely to be considerably less than that which will damage engine. so a bit more heat won't hurt. Also, if overheating partly due to heavy load, is likely to start cooling if load reduced or removed.

Instrument dealer who originally sold me this setup pointed out advantage is that this protection arrangement depends on things working for the motor to run. No power for the fuel solenoid for any reason including something wrong with the protection device itself and it stops. Also will if failure of electrical system to supply power (such as with loss of electricity conducting smoke from Lucas wiring!!!) Much better than the likes of a Murphy type system. Instrument dealer said he felt bad about having sold one to a bloke whose motor was subsequently cooked because it did not work due to something like wire coming off or dirty points on gauge which did not conduct current to earth.

Go the combo setup, I'm wrapped with my EMS2. Initially I wanted separate gauges to fill out the mudpod, however the cost of it all ends up more trying to get individual gauges with alarms. Wiring up the EMS was very simple too and didn't require pulling the dash out with the loom it is supplied with.
