I've checked the map and I'm not sure how up to date it is but does anyone have a Nanocom for Defender TD5's that they would be kind enough to let me use.
i'm near Campbelltown, SA.
I’m looking to have the it tuned by a company in the UK, they’re happy to do it by email hence the Nanocom
Just make sure they don't lock it to a certain Nanocom if you are going to do this, Gary Wood always did this and I found it annoying and inconvenient.
The Nanocom which your Alive tunes were locked to failed, if I remember correctly.
That is a relatively unusual situation.
But I do agree that it's probably not a good move to use a borrowed Nanocom to with a locked map.
There is nothing intrinsically annoying or inconvenient about the locked maps if you are using a single Nanocom.
In normal operation protection is checked before the map is uploaded and the process is transparent to the user.
You also need to factor in that tuners don't have any choice but to lock to a Nanocom ID and VIN if they use the .tun format.
I've tried giving people .tun format remaps that didn't have VIN or Nano ID configured but the Nanocom gripes unless both match the hardware.
I think BAS, Alive and Storm Tuning all use locked maps, and you can't really blame them for wanting to protect their work.
cheers

Paul that is true i have no issue with them protecting their work
But it was a right royal PITA when the Nanocom failed and I purchased a new Nanocom to discover none of my maps could be written.
Because my Nanocom destroyed a number of ECUs (about 5 in total) the second hand ECUs had the wrong VIN even the new ECUs have no VIN so the protected map couldn't be written.
Every time I had to have an ECU repaired took 3 Months. Back at that time it was difficult to find someone competent in Australia to do the job
So I found this was annoying and inconvenient
Hence my interest in the USBBDM
The maps were eventually modified by the tuners and all ECUs returned
Today all is well I can repair the ECUs and change the maps but I can imagine how much puss and pain this would be if you borrowed a Nanocom to put a map on your ECU
