If you already have a nanocom unlocked for some other vehicle you need only the NCOM11 Td5 engine unlock code if only the engine is what you want to diagnose.
Hi, I'm just trying to help out a friend here but am a little uncertain on the codes required to unlock the Nanocom in order to just investigate an engine problem on his early TD5 Defender.
The Nanocom website suggests we'd just need the NCOM11 ("Additional/Optional unlock code to expand existing coverage by adding the TD5 Engine Management System"), but in email discussion with Black-Box Solutions we're told we also need NCOM12 ("Additional/Optional unlock code to expand existing coverage by adding Defender systems (excluding engine management".
However upon clicking 'More info" the NCOM12 says "This unlock code will activate the software for the following Defender PUMA systems...".
Now this is a 2002 or thereabouts Defender, it certainly isn't a PUMA and we don't want to look at anything other than the engine. As it will cost twice as much as first anticipated (if we got the NCOM12) I thought I'd just check here and see if anyone could tell me from experience if all we need is in fact NCOM11?
No problems with Black-Box, this is just my first time attempting to purchase a code and I'm a little confused with seemingly conflicting info, so I'm simply trying to make sense of it. I'd call them but I need this for tomorrow and of course it's the middle of the night there now and I'd like to get things sorted as early as possible.
Thanks.

Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
Thanks @sierrafery, I returned home tonight to find an email from Black-box with details to get just the TD5 code which I've entered and it seems to be happy with that :-)
