    TestBook T4

Nothing to do with the other things I've been posting but just looking for info/opinion. A mate of mine in the UK has offered me a laptop with TestBook T4 installed. It's apparently a ratty old laptop but everything works. It's also got the mobile unit and leads. He doesn't want a lot of money for it (but more than a Nanocom which I already have). Is there any point in getting this? Can it do anything that my Nanocom can't?

    I have a T4 - not the mobile version (I had a Nanocom for my P38A - since sold).

The T4 is more versatile in that it is not locked to a specific vehicle nor model. The T4 software is slow and clunky (complete with spelling errors ) and one has to change leads for different systems (not sure if that applies to the mobile unit) - for general use I prefer my Rovacom Faultmate (but it is VIN-locked to a specific vehicle). My GAP IID Tool isn't as convenient but it's always in the car.

However, with T4, I have pretty much the full range of plugs, leads, and sensors so it can do things the Nanocom and Faultmate can't do, e.g., read voltages, pressures, etc.

I also have an early Testbook with the touch screen but it needs a new SCSI CD-ROM (I haven't been able to find one).

Thanks for the reply Ron. I'm not a professional so I think I'll just stick to my Nanocom since it's only for my own vehicle. I don't need any more clunky software so I'll spend the money on a new intercooler!
