Td5 anyone?
Greetings to anyone who might read this.
I'm a new owner of a 2002 Discovery II.
I noticed over on the Ultragauge website that the Td5 motor is not OBD compliant.
What do you knowledgable and experienced owners use for monitoring and diagnostics?
I'd like to at least have an alarm for overheating.

No reason why another one couldn't be started though - only need 12 AULRO members interested in buying one and BBS will start it up.

You can buy a small LED temp gauge with a dry sensor to mount on the hose housing for about $25 on ebay. Mine is similar to the one below and is easily fitted if you are handy. It fits in the RH small drawer in my car and is accurate within 1C degree of my ECU sensor.
However a Nanocom is a valuable piece of gear. If you have a 2002 or later you can reprogram the ECU.
It can clear all errors, code keys, change defaults like eg 2 or 1 key press to unlock. It shows the ECU sensor temp, but to me the nanocom is a bit bulky to have connected all of the time, although some do it.
Mine was invaluable just recently when I got M&S after starting and stopping the engine immediately while on holiday. In other words it went into limp home with only 3rd gear available. Would have been a slow trip home towing my camper trailer.
