    Foxwell NT510

    Hello All,

I have a Land Rover Discovery 1 that was manufactured in 1996. The vehicle is fitted with an ABS system.

I watched a YouTube clip and it shows a Lynx interface that allows the ABS module to be controlled and bled. The YouTube clip was accessed 1st August 2021 from, Bleeding an ABS system on a Land Rover Defender / Discovery 2 - YouTube, it is a Trailer Fitter's Toolbox Video for Defender and Discovery fitted with ABS.

After the program has bled the ABS module it then directs the user to power bleed each wheel calliper. Some internet research later and I found recommendations here on AULRO and on other sites that the Foxwell NT510 is a suitable alternative to the more expensive Lynx interface.

Can you please let me know if the NT510 Elite is designed to access the ABS system and let it perform a bleeding circuit at the ABS module and later guide the user through bleeding each wheel's brake callipers just like the Lynx on the Trailer Fitter's video does?

    Kind regards
    Lionel

    (just a guess)

    I would say not.
That is it most likely don't work.

The Disco in the LRTV video is a D2, and it's OBDII compliance is a bit different to the D1's.

I don't think the D1 is compliant at all, and if it is, it'd be very minimal. Unlikely that ABS would be available, and if it were possible to power bleed the ABS system it most likely had to be done at a LR dealer or you had to have the LR software(Testbook) to do it.

Found some info on Foxwell support site .. one comment is that "doesn't work on a 1996 Discovery" .. another comment was that it power bleeds the ABS on a Disco 2.

OBDII support is very hit and miss in this era, and it's due to the point that in the US was made mandatory in about 1994, but in Europe much later .. like 2003 or something.

So vehicles have it, where a slightly different version of a similar vehicle doesn't. D2 TD5 vs V8 is an example of this .. hit and miss .. ability.

Don't rely on diagnostic comms to be a sure thing, even up to 2006 in some cases here in Aus. My sis's 2006 RAV4 doesn't have OBDII capability .. apparently this happened in '07 here in Aus on many Toyotas.
