    Welcome to Electronic Diagnostic Systems

    Guys...

It's important NOT to panic when you read your faults list...

Theres a number of 'faults' which aren't actually something going/gone wrong.

Your getting a great diagnostic tool, but never forget that information can be dangerous!

If anyone has a fault code, post it up, we'll discuss it.....

    Thanks Mike
Your input/experience is going to be very welcome here.
Electronic faults and finding them is quite a problem, having such a tool is a great help especially for us who are many miles from a landy doctor.
If we can keep all this diagnostics etc in a seperate area it will help to build a valueable database.

    Welcome to Electronic Diagnostics

    Hello People.
This Forum has been created to keep all the Electronics diagnostics in one area with the idea of creating a usefull database for all electronic problems on all modern Landrovers.
If you go to a dealer and get fault codes found this is the place to discuss them. With the availability of lower cost ECU readers we will be able to help each other thru all manner of problems, saving plenty of wasted dealer $$$.
Please keep posts to the point, the less general chat the better database we create.
    Enjoy
    Andrew

    Thumbs up

    Great idea guys

I think it would be another good time to prompt people who have diagnostic tools to post up what they use (what vehicles too), where they are located and if they are willing to help others in remote regions. Let's face it there are now a lot more members on this forum in regional locations than there are Land Rover dealers.

    Good idea dm.
Read your post the other day with the same point.
Dont realy know how to approach it.People have spent alot of money on diagnostic equipment for their bussiness. We all hate the $100 or more for an ECU read/clear,but Im not sure that members should be advertising they have a Rovacom lite or Nanocom and will do cut price reads/clears etc.
Im the first to put my hand up and say use mine when somebody is in a fix,I have a mate with the aircon fan stuck on who I will help out when my Nanocom arrives.
I get your point,if you are many moons away from the nearest dealer as I and many others are in Aussie some sort of list you can accses to get yourself off out of trouble.Look at the other side of the coin, being on a list opens you up to being hasseled to do a dealers/specialists job.
Also personal advertising,ie I have diagnostic gear for hire is against the sites rules.
Unsure, will consult the ALMIGHTY one for his views.

    It's funny, really.

I created a Diagnostic sub-forum on the RangeRovers.net forum and got lots of flak about there being too many sections on the forum (there are 4 Model section - RRS, L322, P38A, and Classic, plus a For Sale /Wanted section, plus Diagnostics. (There's also a Moderators' section hidden from the general membership).

I'm getting abuse from the juvenile RRS owners about wanting the adverts in the For Sale area, not in the RRS area. I'm being called a nazi, people are threatening to leave. I've said "Ta Ta" but I don't know if they'll understand.

Note this is only from the RRS area where the main topics for discussion are 22" vs 24" rims, body kits, woodgrain interior trim vs carbon fibre, etc.

Some of the RRS owners are 17!

Anyway Great idea Tombraider, and I agree it is very easy to destroy with such a tool and no training.

Andy, I see your point and think it is valid. My view is this shouldn't be something anyone expects for free. After all whether you have spent good money to get yourself out of the pooh or because its part of your business, anybody needing help should respect that.

I'd be very against anyone using this to advertise diagnositic equipment for hire or to encourage buisness.

Inc I think you may need to look more at different ECU's as these are shared across some vehicles (eg Lucas Td5)
