Nanocom pc interface "cannot init ecu" error

Ok, I've been playing with the nanocom for a bit now. It mostly works nicely. When just plugging the unit in itself it only gets the "error cannot init ecu" occasionally and this is usually solved by turning the key to the second position.

However my problem is that when using the pc software I plug in and everything is working then I'll us it for a bit and then it just gets "error initialising ecu" (or something similar). The unit has remote on the display but nothing else really changes.

The only way around this seems to be to unplug the unit, shut the software down and start again. Even then it's fiddly. Am I not doing something correctly?

Get in contact with tech support at Nanocom, outline the problem and await their reply. It's normally very prompt.

Are you using a USB/serial port converter???
Not sure where I read it but there are issues with some of the cheaper converters.

Yep I'm using a serial to USB converter. I should also confess that I'm running it on a mac running XP under parallels (I really don't think this is the problem though).

Yeah... pretty much. Is no one else having this problem?

Try turning the wireless off on your laptop. I think this helped, but I'm not sure if it wasn't just co-incidental.
