Question Is it worth buying a ScanGaugeII?

I know several of you have one and that they are limited in what they can do with the Puma.

As I understand it, the unit will display most DTC's the ECM will throw up but won't let you clear them.

So those of you with one, would you consider it a worthwhile purchase?

I have one in the LR3.

It's great to see inst. fuel consumption, air intake temps, etc.

But the best bit is the trip computer, as it tells you how far you have travelled since you started, today, yesterday and on the tank. Also avg fuel consumption, avg speed etc.

Makes it easy for log books.

Not sure how much it will show on your vehicle.

    Cheers,
    AP.

Well I bought one this week. Got it this afternoon and have had a bit of a play. Doesn't show any DTC's - don't know if that's good or it's just missing seeing them on the Puma.

Main benefits to me will be fuel consumption and temperatures I suspect. I'll be interested to see what the accuracy is of the fuel consumption.

This is just one of the features that is seriously lacking in my D2. I wish that somehow the Nanocom could change the ECU to give us some basic readings of avg fuel consumption.

Does anyone know if the ScanGuageII will fuction effectively in a D2 V8? I like the idea of being able to clear the error codes and monitor engine stats.

Is it worth buying a ScanGaugeII?

I have one in my D2 V8. It works very well.
I bought it mainly to monitor temperature while towing a largish van, but it can monitor all sorts of things that could be of interest. It does not read anything like all the vehicle codes, but it does read some engine codes.
Now if only it would clear the three amigos!!!!

Getting back to the question, in my opinion, knowing how useless the Disco 2 temperature gauge is in practice, it is worth getting a Scan Gauge just for the temperature read out.

    Thumbs up

I have one too with my '99 DII V8. Same comments as the previous post. Definitely worthwhile investment.
