That was the original intention as "promised" in initial marketing as their point of difference. A recent letter of reply to members on the Ineos members forum from Lynne Calder, the global CEO of Ineos Grenadier also revealed that Ineos are exploring opportunities for the likes of Autel to develop a Grenadier diagnostic tool for owners (and by implication independents) to service the vehicles properly. Picked up mine on Friday a MY 24 Sela Green Trial Master demo with leather & sunroofs - 2900km demonstrater first registered in March 25.
Got the rear table & checker plates fitted.
Considering the ORA Toro Bullbar & Warn winch in readiness for Christmas Trip to SA.
Enjoying it thus far.

If they had actually kept to the price they originally promised then they would have sold a great many in Australia and they would have a chance of building a solid support network. Instead once they had delivered the vehicles they had committed to deliver at launch prices - they've really struggled to make sales after three of four consecutive price rises. Unlike other manufacturers Ineos don't make their sales numbers public, so all we know is that in august last year they boasted that they had delivered 1500 grenadiers and earlier hints were that this was largely the preorder book. Ever since then there has been discounting trying to shift cars. Sometimes cars that have been in Australia for a couple of years!. So we can guess that they aren't selling many.Quote:

While they tried to copy the spirit of the defender they missed that utility vehicles need to be cheap. Personally I think the best case is they survive as a niche brand in Australia, but most likely is they will give up and leave Australia. Charging more for less is difficult. They need to be priced at least in the ballpark of the 76. There is soo much really good and well established competition in the price band they have set.. It's just not going to happen.
I think price is only for art of the reason they won’t sell in big numbers and to compare them to a crappy 70 series cruiser isn’t realistic either, it’s like comparing apples and oranges.
to get a cruiser to the same level as a Grenadier would cost at least 50k in mods which in turn void all warranty
it’s the build quality and issues that is holding them back the most, heating and cooling isn’t even a working item in many of them so for someone like myself who travels anywhere from the Vic high country in blizzard conditions to desert touring in the mid 30’s you have to have HVAC that is reliable

I bought the Trialmaster diesel as an "early hand raiser" VINxxxxx20x0 . The only extras I ordered then were the front towplate (hides behind the rego plate which swings upwards to reveal the hitch), the half height rear cargo barrier behind the passenger seats, the "side runners" to ease my aching back when climbing into the cab and the folding picnic table.
I deliberately left out the bull bar, roof rack and front winch options... too much money for probable use and too much weight over the front wheels (despite the heavier duty springs included to accommmodate the additional weight of these options during factory production). The $$$ consideration was that it was below $100k which saved an additional 2% state duty on the total cost...so I obtained three of the "optional" Rhino roof bars after the fact at the original brochure price... they're massive but half the weight and less than half the price of a roof rack...
This vehicle "begs" to be tinkered with.
Other stuff I've bought and fitted since are denim (front) and full canvas (rear) seat covers form Supafit in WA (truly excellent); 4 Maxtrax boards on special at the local Snowy's Outdoor; had the windows tinted ; fitted an EVC Ultimate 9 throttle controller. I run it most of the time on eco-1. Makes the response very smooth and has the added benefit that I can set it with my phone so that even if the grubs can get past the advanced immobiliser, or somehow steal the key, the engine starts and idles but there's no repsonse whatsoever from the accelerator pedal... ! Setting it at "Adaptive" and the Gren really picks up its game and sprints. It doesn't provide more power, just modulates the 'fly-by-wire' response between the loud pedal and the engine... similar to "sports mode" setting in other vehicles...
I've fitted a full set of bash plates I purchased from a local Brisbane business (4mm stainless steel) one of which protects the ZF 8sp plastic transmission sump cover -there's been 2 reported cases of Grenadiers having the cover pierced with "sticks" while covering gnarly ground despite a standard 10"ground clearance.
The massive Carraro axles have one-way (3.5-5psi) pressure relief valves on the axles...I think this might be a similar arrangement for the Iveco Daily4wd truck which also has Carraro axles. Nevertheless I've swapped them out for standard diff breathers and utilised several metres of high pressure 6mm nylon airline I'd squirrelled away from the days when I obsessed over the EAS on the much loved RRP38[thumbsupbig]...these things always come in handy, even if it took 9 years! The breather lines terminate in the engine compartment like those fitted standard to the RRp38.
Fuel: I bought a Brown Davis 68L long range tank and installed it with the help of my helicopter engineer son...well on this occasion, I handed him the tools and watched [thumbsupbig] His attention to detail raised the definition of "fastidious" to a whole new level... I now have a comfortable 1400km range with an estimated 50-100km in reserve.
I fitted a dashcam and a Kaon rear parcel shelf...and that just about covers it.
I've also transferred a GME 330 UHF across -it sits in the cubby between the seats. The antenna folds across the roof so that the 8mm clearance under the garage door is preserved!
We drove it to Tassie in Aug. 2023 to run it in and a trip to Cairns in 2024 visiting grandkids (and their parents!! :-)) plus several trips to Toowoomba, a week recently on the Noosa North Shore between Teewah and Rainbow beach (locked high range everywhere), never a hint of bogging down. It's covered naff all km over the past two years because we use the Subaru for day to day necessities. Am hoping to remedy that ...but like I said, life gets in the way and a few curved balls on the med. front can stuff the best of plans:rolleyes:
Enjoy your "luxury" Trialmaster... the leather seats and Safari windows had me very tempted!! And the Sela Green is a great colour. I chose the Scottish White because Brisbane is hot enough in summer and after living with a "JavaBlack" Rangie for several years...well the lighter colour suits me at the moment... (my wife was very keen on the Sela Green! )
