Funny you should mention that. About a year ago I followed a new Grenadier from Launceston, south towards Hobart, and he stopped just south of Oatlands (about halfway down the highway towards Hobart) at a rest area. I decided to also stop and take a look. A very proud & obliging new owner who had just taken delivery of it that very day from the Launceston Dealer and he was heading home to Hobart.
He invited me to sit in it which I did, and the very first thing I noticed was that huge bulge... I could not live with that bulge as it is exactly where I rest my left foot.
I think the catalytic convertor is on the other side of the floor.
Very intrusive; you'd have thought they'd tried harder to eliminate it.
You would wonder what was going on there. From memory they took longer getting the vehicle to market than they had originally wanted, so perhaps it just could not be sorted in time. I hope that in some future revision it would be eliminated or reduced substantially. They seem to be making changes as they go to resolve other issues but this one is likely harder.
Overall an exciting vehicle to have on the market. I am keen to see it succeed but not sure if the sales are going to allow for that long term.
Cheers
Ineos offering 5 years free servicing for orders by the end of sept.
Still wouldn't consider one given the multiple issues and lack of support from Ineos , I was really keen on the concept and what the car is but thought I would see how it all panned out but after closely following the Ineos Grenadier forum there is no way I would spend hard earned on one.
I don't even think they will survive another 2-3 years if they don't dramatically improve the vehicle, service and spares access
Finally some very good advances in the Grenadier space, the promised service manuals are now available to owners on a years access basis
At stage this stage it's free to any owner who wants it but my guess it will become a paid subscription
So who thinks Ineos in Australia will still be in operation after this decade? I don't. Shame.
What I base this on... LR was selling about 150 defenders a month when I bought mine. That's no many. But the brand survived because it sold so many other models that dealers and their network could survive.
I believe they are selling about 100 grenadiers a month in Australia (Ineos stopped reporting sales... wonder why). I do not believe this is enough to sustain a viable dealer/support network in a very large country like Aus.
IMHO They need to reduce the price to sell more to attain viability.. but they can't reduce the price because they only sell a few and the overheads need to be distributed over a small volume of cars...
