First time I've had the opportunity to look really close up at one. The wagon looks good, I like it! And should I win Powerball I will buy myself one!
I've been watching Ronny Dahl's YouTube videos of his Grenadier and I'm pretty impressed, it seems far more capable (and has better articulation) than I'd thought from previous stuff I'd seen. I especially like all the kit you can bolt on the sides, seems far more useful than the box on the side of the new Defender!

Not keen on the Quartermaster though, looks very ungainly!
Same, i'm in 2 minds about the quartermaster. Woukd be better than a 70 series and with a good alloy canopy would make an excellent tourer.
    Come on mr Tatts.

Dealer near me is trying to sell a "used" one which is last year stock with 380k on it. 88k.

Frankly that's probably the price they should be and would sell at.

A friend went to the local recently and they have lots in stock and big discounts. Who would have thought.

I have seen a few in the high 80's to low 90's, almost affordable.

IMHO their launch pricing was right. 84500 plus on roads. Maybe give them one of the price rises for inflation. The problem is there had been three price rises by the time the first vehicle was delivered. You just can't pretend to sell a utility car when it's 140k with a pretty slim options list. It does have a unique proposition - but the market is just too competitive for that. It's pretty well known that demand for "luxury goods" is highly elastic.

Now they have delivered all the launch orders (which were at the cheap prices) they have to deal with how to sell them. Getting orders is going to be very very hard at those prices.

Getting enough volume to keep dealers happy, and develop support networks is also going to be hard, which in turn won't help demand. If they can't sell the cars for competitive prices I can't see a future for the brand.

I built one up a few days ago on their website....lots of goodies ....nowhere near $140,000.

I dont really like doing this but costed competitors to same or close to options(there really aren't any) and Grenadier trumped them, embarrassed Land Rover on cost by many 1000's of $.

You can put any option on any model in the Grenadier range....try that in the others.

    I got $129k for a Grenadier
And $137k for a far higher equipped Defender 110

That Defender has full air suspension, factory wheel change and full climate pack. The ride alone would be worth the $8k

Be careful.. unless you go right through to the end it doesn't add the on road costs.

I went through the configurator again.. Trialmaster with only sliders and the roo bar in the only free colour.. a horrible blue 132,584 drive away. I do feel if I was spending that much .. perhaps I'd like to be able to add something like a colour I didn't despise .. or maybe a few other little options. I suspect the actual OTR for me would be closer to 140. I'd still have to add a few bits and pieces on top of that too like a decent sized fueltank (if someone has even made one), UHF, roof rack.....

Or I can go to Toyota and buy a workmake GXL for 85k Drive away. So probably at least 50k cheaper. Thats a lot of options I could sink with that price difference. I see a coil and track correction upgrade is 17.5k from Superior Engineering. Plus I'd have meaningful support in rural Australia. That would be nice for a change. Or probably any number of other options like the new prado, a patrol...

You could argue that the Grenadier is more of a luxury competitor to the likes of "Defender" or landcruiser. But which is it? Are they trying for a spiritual successor to the real Defender? If they are - the logical competition is the 76 series. So the price should be in the ball park. When I bought my defender in 05 - it was 20k cheaper than the troopy (there was no wagon at that point).

I remain convinced that getting new orders is going to be tough and keeping dealers happy and support growing support networks will also be hard. I've no idea how to get out of this mess for them. I think they will need to meaningfully cut prices .. probably in the order of 20k. If they are going to do it now is the time because they could refund the 5 people who have ordered one since the price went up. The way they are doing it now with dealer discounting doesn't work with the new model because people won't even get into the dealer with the retail prices that out of the park. If they can't make it work at the reduced price then I dunno.

Interesting....I dont think any two people would spend the same total.

I dont think Ineos offer any inferior products to their option list.

There is absolutely no need for any aftermarket product for the Grenadier as Ineos offer just about everything you can think of.

I doubt you'll see kings adorning a Grenadier.

I have a Toyota fleet manager as a neighbour and sells many L300's with price tags over $150k.
