At any rate, it's going to take more than one non competitive EV to dig them out of this mess.

I remember when the Suzuki JB74 Jimnys 1st came out that they were supposed to sell in the $25>$30k range (a fair price point) but since they were so popular that the price has jumped up to near $40k!! That's way too much for their size, etc...

Now if Suzuki made a defender size Jimmny I'd 100% be in the queue. Even inflated Suzuki money would be less than everyone else. Unfortunately they just don't do big cars.. it's not what they do.

But I won't get another Ford. They don't make anything I'd want If I was in the market purely for reliability I'd choose Subaru or Honda. If I followed my heart i'd get a Ferrari.... Well, probably not these days, but I always wanted one. Struggle to get in and out, probably.

I never said that other manufacturers didn't have problems. I just get a little tired of Toyota's free advertising by everyone telling me they are indestructible. They are not. The US recall is, yes, petrol engines, and if you read the documents Toyota have not admitted anything, the recall is issued by the NHTSA as a safety recall. It is the second recall of the same cars in two years. Toyota cite "machining debris" in the engines causing bearing failure. Yeah, right. Two different plants build these engines, one in the US and one in Japan. And 'Yota have stated they are working on an improved bearing design.

They all make mistakes. A car is a very complex combination of different pieces of engineering. 'Yota is fallible, just like everyone else, and people need to admit it.

Surely when a crank breaks the same happens?
    Maybe not

I know the diesel was not in the US,but there have been recalls here and in other countries such as the UK for the same sort of "safety issue"

Who is this John Canny? His production seems very amateurish, but trying hard to look professional.

Yeah, I've seen a few of his videos, including the infamous breakdown one, but does he have any journalistic or filmmaking qualifications?
