Yep, garage will be the sole domain of the Jag. 👍 We are now setting up a temporary carport next to the garage to move the Series 3 into to make room. 😁. Will look at building that into a garage extension at some point I think and concreting it so tools and storage can go out there too, but that’s longer term.

Towbar will be coming off - I have no need to tow anything with it.

Well done. Few Jags reach age 40 and the survivors are rarely in such good condition. The rust demon, electrical gremlins, high maintenance cost (which often meant no maintenance) and poor resale value usually had them off to the scrappies well before then.

Not wishing to put the mozz on your new glamorous old girl but how is the parts supply for these wonderfully unique machines? Is getting parts a drama or is it relatively easy? Available in Oz or is it back to the motherland?

Still can't believe how lucky and decisive you were over this car......you saw it and bought it.....great stuff.

Parts are freely available in Aust from a few suppliers but like LR bits most are sourced from the UK - mainly SNG Barratt.

As Garry said - parts are generally readily available and not badly priced. Plenty of wrecks around too as a lot haven't made it this far. Exceptions are things like heads, OS pistons, etc if doing a full engine rebuild, trans is a 3 speed Borg Warner that is easy and relatively cheap to get rebuilt. Diff is pretty much unbreakable, wear components like brake and suspension parts are plentiful and cheap.

Wiring is Lucas so switches, etc can play up but not overly concerned with things like that - will fix those as they happen.

Can get most parts here in Oz over the counter.

Keeping the engine happy with good maintenance is the key to having one live a long life.

Looks good Gav, yes, although not being particularly familiar with the brand, I did notice the "4.6" and thought you may have obtained a "special" of some description.
Anyway, congratulations, it looks like a lovely example. Do you have any plans for it, anything that needs immediate attention etc.
Being an old Pom, I've always liked the Jaguar brand, never owned one, but I drove a girlfriend's father's Mk V "Z Series" several times, and I did have a look at a 3.5L Mk 1V that I could've picked up for around a hundred quid in the sixties! My favorite would be an 3.8L XK150S Coupe. My best man's brother owned an E Type which I rode in a few times,...I can still remember looking over that long louvered bonnet!, Always nice to have a "toy" in the garage.
I wish you much enjoyment, Pickles.

I'll tell you what you've done Gav. You have made me green with envy.
    Cheers, Billy.

Thanks mate - no immediate plans - it is pretty immaculate and comes with a RWC so hopefully nothing to do short term. I do know the LH tank isn’t working - this could be just the switch, fuel pump or something worse - don’t know yet, so there is that to sort. Maybe also fitting a new electric antenna for the radio rather than the one that’s on it although reading up on this that is a PITA job - sounds like quite a few things are on these cars. 😁

Will also be speaking to the Mechanic who’s been working on this for the last few years to see if the gearbox has been serviced - there was no detail on this so I suspect not, but being an old Borg Warner, I’ll do that myself anyway. I have a friend with a hoist. 👍😁

Will know more when I get it home - hopefully Wednesday or Thursday evening. Will take the long way home to get a better feel for it. 👍
