We have about half dozen Benzs in the family and find that the auto's are near bullet proof, i would be checking the fluid level and then doing a fluid and filter replacement as a first course of action.
Just a thought I had. ;
An elderly friend here has a Mercedes Benz 380 , ‘85, not a lot of km. but in beautiful condition , except, on Sunday after a few weeks lay-off he went for a spin and the auto wouldn’t shift above 2nd.
i suggested it may have a “ lock or sport mode” , he didn’t think so , and I know zilch so am asking here .
any drivers of a big German on here can help?
Dave

Looks like you were right Nick: the MB is on historical plates so doesnÂ’t get used much,and it supposedly had a comprehensive service five months ago, humph.
Anyway we thought we could go for a short drive yesterday ,and keep apart enough to keep the social police at bay, came home ,I check the dipstick, no oil showing , so now to get the correct fluid sent from Adelaide.
His other historical car is an Austin 7 , no hope of social distancing whilst in that little unit .!
So thanks Loanrangie
