    the VW Amarok

I hear little about the Amorok here.

Having recently traded my Ranger in on one I am particularly impressed with its drive, nvh, comfort, on roads, economy , soooo smooth 8sp transmission.

I am about to take it on one of my annual SA desert ventures with a possible Simpson Desert crossing W-E.

I have done nothing to prepare it yet, already hate the spare wheel location , removed it and carry it in the tub. Something will definitely be needed here.

I'm waiting for the 4x4 Show in a couple of weeks to see whats good and might work on the Amarok. Fuel range is almost identical to the Ranger. Running on michelin ltx force tyres , an unknown quantity for me. for the firs time in donkeys years I probably won't carry spare fuel.

Anyone have anything to add or advise?

Which Ranger did you have? Given the new Amarok is based on the T6 platform developed in conjunction with Ford, and the new Ranger is also based on that platform, I wonder if you tried the new Ranger as well. I have no experience of either one, I'm just curious.

Just blew my amarok up 2011 model 2.0l , no temp gauge, egr cracked, lost water and overheated.... would I buy another one? In a ****ing heartbeat! Looking for a replacement donk at the moment. Best car I've ever owned, be extremely vigilant with the maintenance and enjoy one of the most powerful, economical and comfortable 4x4s on the market.
    Cheers

yes LRJim, what a surprise vehicle.

never seems to rate high in the multi comparo tests.

good luck with your new engine.

I have an engine data scan which just plugs into the obd port , but I cant seem to find suitable place to mount the display screen.

    Same goes for CB.

    cheers Den
