Last time I saw it there it had been dragged onto on dry land and was in quite a vandalised condition (abt 1955) - scrapped a few years later (along with the shacks of the Aboriginals Settlement nearby) when the motor car race circuit was built.

I'm led to believe that it was a non-amphibian and if so, it therefore would have been on some beaching gear.

Most of those supplied to the RAAF which were amphibians were converted to non-amphibians, and a substantial weight saving was achieved.

Very impressive.
Was there much restoration done to her when she arrived in Aus, & if so, do you know what has been done, or anything about the history of this particular aircraft?

Thanks for the Pic's and I would like to say thanks to Shell Australia for providing the fuel for the planes at Warbirds down under, it was enough to convince me to fill up with Shell V max on the way home.

I didnt run into any Locusts out there but a friend suggested I fit a screen over the grill, which I did, there were plenty of other bugs just the same.

The Black Cat was a very impressive machine to see in the air, when it was parked up it served as a brilliant marque for dozens of people, those wings are very large indeed.

I know - I was under it. Very inconsiderate of them to move it just for a flying display!

With the small numbers of radials flying at any one time at Temora, can you imagine what the sound was like when hundreds of them were flying together during WWII? :o

Just to let people know (I am sure some of you already do) there is another Catalina undergoing restoration at Bankstown. It will eventually be based at Rathmines on Lake Macquarie.:D:D It was flown out in 2008 and made a "splash and go" at Rathmines prior to arriving at Bankstown.:D
