Will come sooner than we think. Wasn't it Bob Hawke who said all pilots were glorified bus drivers? Having been associated with pilots it seems they do very little now. BUT they are on hand when something goes wrong and they then can take over. According to my sources, pilots MAY have some input in taking off and landing if they want to but they dont have to on many of the very new large planes. The technology is far more advance than what they will say as it would ultimately mean they all would/could become redundant. The question though is would I fly in a pilotless plane? Depends on the discount, depends on the plane and airline, and where it is taking off from and where it is landing. In many european cities they have driverless trams and trains, so what is next?
