whilst some of you look to find humour or find fault with how some behaved, spare a thought for those who actually experienced it.
I’ve been a pilot for over 30 years, have flown in Australia,PNG and Europe and now Command a ‘Heavy’.
When the proverbial hits the fan many people do not behave as they expect.
There but for the Grace of God is what I think every time.
Too true. I thought the same thing - that it could easily have happened to me. Have had several very close calls whilst doing various things over the years (once while in a small aircraft) and you are right, you don't know how you will react until it happens. There can be a fine line between holding it together in a crisis and something totally unexpected will often push you over the edge. Having said that, I have seen some stupid things done by people on commercial flights.
I without out fail give the hostie my full attention when going through the brief.....most the the passengers don’t even look up or acknowledge it’s happening......will it help in an emergency dunno but I hope so
You’d be surprised how many hosties notice that you took time to listen to them and quite often nod in appreciation.
I only ever pick window seats, I’ll now ensure my belt is a little tighter than i normally have it.
