Isnt the point of the "funny story" that it's Frontline Machinery, through Grays Online, that's selling the aircraft, rather than the guy who's posted a link to the auction? So, there's not much point asking him/her about the PC9s because he/she's not selling them.

Ps. these aircraft were up on Frontline's website last month.

    Hi all

Have been following the auction on Graysonline. The auction started on Friday and by that afternoon the Bell "Kiowa" Helicopters had reached $5k and they are now between $6k and $50k.

I can understand "who" is buying Perenties, in our street there are two and a few persons in LROC NSW have some. I'd love a helicopter like that. But who would be buying them? For cattle mustering out west?, a museum piece in someones big shed?. There are 22 of these and clearly there are several buyers at least.

Good on them, they're scrap otherwise and if it wasn't for HARS and Lowy's Temora outfit, no-one could afford to maintain and fly these aircraft - so we wouldn't see them outside museums.
I agree. A couple of work and ex-work colleagues are involved in the flying side of HARS (including the getting the P3 to flying status). Nevertheless, these are all very high-time aircraft with limited life left in them. If HARS pick some of them up, no doubt some will go to static display, and hopefully some will fly again.

Anyone know what hazardous parts would be in the Helicopters?

    • Certain Parts within this lot require a Hazardous Management Licence before ownership can occur. Hazardous part can be removed if purchaser is unable to obtain required licence. Details of the licence can be obtained by contacting Craig Ley on 0417-227-677.

Well that is even worse as that aspect doesn't seem to be mentioned & if one wasn't of the Flyboy fraternity one would never know so not really a clever "funny story" at all.

Well, with the F-111s it was certainly the fuel tanks & probably other items but I'm not aware if there is a common denominator. Maybe it is fuel tank linings on the rotary wings as well, but just a guess. it seems as though anything these days could fit into that category. A splash of something on some part unseen etc. Who knows, but they are obviously covering their 'arrises.'
