    GA-8 Airvan crash in Sweden

Two things I find very sad about this crash.

    Accident Gippsland GA-8 Airvan SE-MES, 14 Jul 2019

First is the preliminary evidence that it could well be Pilot Error, the second is yet another Australian Industry has been sold off-shore.

On a lighter note, the only downside of (yet another) 'Flying Car' is the teeny detail of the airbags... they'd deploy on a particularly bad landing... one you'd now find impossible to "not mention"...

Many Moons ago, when I wore shorts,....I used to drop into Latrobe Valley aerodrome whilst on Pipeline survey for Esso. They were in the preliminary stages of development for the GA-8.
Great looking aircraft, extremely capable. The only thing lacking.........AUD to support R&D. They were running on the smell of an oily rag(one of the Engineers didn’t even wear shoes,....but that’s another story).
Great to see grounding is lifted, sorry to hear it may be due pilot error.

Come to think of it I was doing runs between Freddo’s NSCA at East Sale and Latrobe quite often and If I remember correctly the GA-8 was perfectly positioned for S&R.

    Now where did Freddo go...................??
