This area has been a bit quiet of late, so . . .

Some elements of that vid reminded me of a demo flight of a proto Airbus in France (wth company boss watching) where the pilot flew right on the stall speed low over the strip remarking en francais 'this'll give (the boss) a hard on' and the plane goes on to slowly plow into a forest.

    On da toob somewhere.

French cowboys with cheese for brains maybe, ..........who'd have thought.

Fading memory, so may be Rrong.... but final holes in the cheese stack was... starting the over-run a tad tooo low, and not enough "idle" RPM so too long a time needed to reach TOGA power. And that done too late.

We know the rest... First link / Mentour is for the non-pilots and hobby flyers, the second link is for the OCD among us.

EDIT:- Increasing vintage is not looking good... Day later, recall a convo about increasing auromation during some 'Hanger Flying', Pilot referenced the delay in jet engines responding... suggested rumours at the time that the Engine Management System restricted the PF's panicked (?) firewalling of throttles...to a more "safe" rate. Then there was the deceptive - for a 'Line Pilot, - sight & height of TREES... Totally foreign to his normal environment !
